The righteousness of the kingdom is not a code of ethics: it is the response of men to God's presence, sovereignty, and goodness. Responding to God's providence, men will be trustful and not anxious. Responding to his generosity, they will be loving and forgiving to one another. Responding to his sovereignty they will renounce power, importance and claims for themselves. The rich man can no more enter the kingdom than a camel can crawl through the tiny eye of a needle. Why? Because he is too big; he has power, importance in himself and his possessions. Little children are not too big; the kingdom is for them. he who exalts himself will be abased. It is God who reigns.
