The Blessed John Henry Newman (21 February 1801 – 11 August 1890). Newman’s was one of the finest intellects of modern times, but it was underpinned and sustained by a simple faith in God. He had a great devotion to Our Lady, as shown by this extract from one of his sermons, given on 26 March 1846.
